We don’t know about you, but there are times we are Googling something on our smartphones, and once we click on where we’re supposed to be going it will kick you directly back to the homepage on that site. BUT WHY?!?!
Pretty regularly it’s because the site you’re searching on is redirecting you to their “mobile-friendly” version. Their site isn’t actually responsive and adapting. The server recognizes you are on a smarphone and is grabbing the mobile theme’s homepage.  Way annoying, right? We thought so too.Â
Poor Google can’t help it-it’s the website’s fault it’s not all responsive and gorgeous. But Google peeps are trying to help clue you in by taking a couple steps:
1. Google will send you a message letting you know of a site (or page) issue that may be happening on mobile-that is, if you happen to use Google Webmasters Tools on your domain.
2. When Google finds you’re using a phone and searching on a site that has a lousy mobile redirect, it will warn you. You will have to click on a “continue through anyways” button to visit the awkward site.
Neither of these are instant remedies to a frustrating issue, but let’s face it-it’s not Google’s problem that any site has a less than savory mobile site. People may think that mobile websites are out of their price range, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. There are so many mobile solutions out there, that focus on responsive design and making sure your site looks great on all devices. This will save your site visitors from dealing with the frustrating Google assistance they’ll need to get them to where you want them-YOUR SITE!
